So, What Is There To Do At Wasaga?

Wasaga Beach truly comes alive in summer. It has been the destination of beach and sun worshippers since the invention of the car. But, when you are waiting for your bathing suit to dry-out, what else might you do while you are here?

The options are incredible!

In writing about the area over the last 20 years, I have often spoken about Wasaga Beach as part of a greater tourist community called the "Georgian Triangle". You really aren't enjoying all we have to offer unless you consider the area as a whole. I'll start with things to do in Wasaga Beach, but I'll also talk about the area at large.

Memories Of Wasaga: Go Karts At 45th St.

Ron MitchellNow and then I get emails from people who describe their memories of Summers in Wasaga. It's incredible to hear about the history of this town. The following is from an email sent to me by Ron Mitchell.

I spent a great part of me childhood at Wasaga Beach with my family in the summer starting 48 years  back when you could still drive on the beach and the population was around 6,000.  The reason I reached out to you was 35  years ago I worked at a Go Kart track across from the Beacon and I used to go to go there on my lunch and sit at the counter eating fries with gravy,  a Vanilla shake and talk to owner Guy.

Beach Areas - Overview

People email quite often asking for advice about which beach area is best. The truthful answer is all of them because Beach Areas 1-6 are really just one long beach arbitrarily divided into numbered sections, but my advice would change depending on what amenities you'd like to have close by. For example, Beaches 2-4 have lovely shade trees and areas where you can safely BBQ for a family picnic. There is also a bike trail for active people and a playground for kids. Beach 1 has all the bars, touristy beach-themed knick-knack shops and fast food restaurants which tends to appeal to young adults but it also has the splash pad, burgers and ice cream which would definitely appeal to kids.
