Memories Of Wasaga: Go Karts At 45th St.

Ron MitchellNow and then I get emails from people who describe their memories of Summers in Wasaga. It's incredible to hear about the history of this town. The following is from an email sent to me by Ron Mitchell.

I spent a great part of me childhood at Wasaga Beach with my family in the summer starting 48 years  back when you could still drive on the beach and the population was around 6,000.  The reason I reached out to you was 35  years ago I worked at a Go Kart track across from the Beacon and I used to go to go there on my lunch and sit at the counter eating fries with gravy,  a Vanilla shake and talk to owner Guy.

The owner of the Go Kart track was Bill, his daughter was Darlene, and she had a brother.

It has been 30 years since I have returned but I hope to do so one day for a visit.  I know the odds are incredible but when I saw your (nice)site, I decided to send you a message.  It is a long way from this overprice city Vancouver,  but I do miss the Wasaga way of life.

That is me sitting on the 3 wheeler with the Beacon in the background and my parents in the other pic all taken mid 70’s.
